Make the shot. Make a difference.

This past Wednesday (8/13/14) we held our 1st Annual Golf Outing to benefit GiGi’s Playhouse, Inc. With 18 sponsors, 25 volunteers and over 100 golfers in attendance, it was a day to remember!

Matt - Silver Medalist

Matt – Silver Medalist

We began the day with registration and a putting contest with our very own Special Olympic Silver Medalist, Matt! Matt successfully out-putted most of his competition — and had a blast doing so!

At 10:00am, Nancy, Paul and GiGi Gianni, surrounded by some of our Hugs + Mugs interns, sent our golfers off with a reminder that their time spent on the golf course would not only be a lot of fun, but would make a HUGE difference in the lives of kids and adults with Down syndrome, as well as their families. Beat the Pro games, Hole in One contests and a few other activities, run by our Hugs + Mugs interns and volunteers, kept things interesting on the course.

Perhaps the most inspiring moment of the day was the speech delivered during dinner. We were pleased to feature one of our current GiGi University students, Aubrey (former guest blogger!). Aubrey shared a little about herself and A LOT about how she has grown over the past few months. Aubrey, Matt and all of the other interns were oozing self-confidence all day long – and she communicated it beautifully.

We were blessed by the generosity of our supporters throughout the day…raising both funds and awareness to support the mission of GiGi’s Playhouse. We can’t wait for next year!
