321 Days of Acceptance | Week 8

Welcome to the week eight recap of 321 Days of Acceptance from Generation G!

Generation G is a conscious decision to be better every day. Acceptance is a fundamental dignity for all people, regardless of ability. Acceptance is more than an act of charity, it is truly generosity “in action”.

acceptance is the very heart and the very best of humanity. without daily actions to create lasting acceptance, opportunities for present and future generations will falter.

In sharing a story and image each day it is our hope to flood social media with the truth about how normal down syndrome is and how extraordinary people with down syndrome are!  you are helping the mission of generation g & acceptance by simply sharing these posts (found each morning on our facebook page) with your friends on social media! thank you. we are stronger together.

Here is who inspired us and made us smile in week 8……

GiGi's Playhouse Day 49 and today we are happy to introduce you to the sweet & determined Nataley from GiGi’s Playhouse-Syracuse
Nataley is the youngest in her family, she has a big sister and a big brother who love her to pieces. When Nataley was born there was all the common fears and uncertainties, but like many stories, it was Nataley’s 18 month old sister who loved her with no fear. Loved her baby sister for exactly who she was, a beautiful new baby. Nataley brings so much happiness to everyone at GiGi’s Playhouse, she is a sweet little friend and her determination is contagious to everyone!

Day 50. We are excited to bring GiGi back and give you all an update on this hardworking young lady! The 2017 5K is quickly approaching and GiGi is training harder than ever! GiGi and I are traveling the country to promote GiGi’s Playhouse. A little over a week ago, we attended the opening of GiGi’s 32nd Playhouse in Rochester, New York! As soon as we retuned we were booked again with a luncheon with the Cubs and the Ricketts and a big interview downtown, then a fundraiser, not to mention school and all of her extracurriculare activities! Believe me this schedule is exhausting for anyone, but even more so for a person with Down syndrome that has low muscle tone. However, GiGi’s fitness training and positive attitude are fueling her journey. Individuals with Down syndrome never get a break from their diagnosis. That is why we keep fighting for them! Remember the only bad workout is the one that didn’t happen!! ~ Nancy Gianni (Chief Belief Office & GiGi’s mom)

GiGi's PlayhouseDay 51. Today we meet Jason, Raymond and Yaniv who are frequent participants at GiGi’s Playhouse Westchester They enjoy the no cost adult program, Fantastic Friends. They are the best of friends and enjoy socializing, bowling and going on buddy cruises.

James also helped create and teach a weekly fitness class training program (GiGi’s FitHouse) On March 22nd 2017 the class was held at FitCon(Utahs largest Sports/Fitness event) that was also a fundraising platform event for GiGi’s Playhouse in Layton Utah. James loves spending time with his family, friends, and serving others anyway he can through GiGi’s Playhouse, Boy Scouts of America, the LDS church, and other community programs.” Kyle (James friend)

Day 55. Meet the incredibly sweet & smart Quinn from GiGi’s Playhouse-Syracuse
Quinn is a star at his, no cost, One On One literacy tutoring and we know he has a great big wonderful future ahead of him!
“Getting to be Quinn’s mom is my greatest life adventure. Often I am his guide – leading, teaching, bursting with pride at his success – but it’s when Quinn leads that my real journey begins! He has taught me about patience, flexibility, strength, courage, and resiliency. (He has also taught me valuable skills like how to outsmart Houdini, how to lockdown all exists everywhere, how to snake a toilet for missing items, how to make friends with the fine people at Poison Control…) But above all, Quinn has taught me how to love. This child exudes love. He demonstrates compassion for total strangers. He doesn’t judge. He seeks out ways to care for others and always offers help. He even hugs so tight he can squeeze the breath out of you! Each day with Quinn is an adventure for sure, and they all overflow with love. SO. MUCH. LOVE.” ~ Sara (aka Quinn’s mom)
