Down Syndrome Acceptance | One Mile at a Time

Woo-Hoo! GiGi and I had the most amazing time yesterday!

It was so exciting to join the GiGi’s Playhouse Bradley Kankakee team to announce the donation of TWO GiGi’s Playhouse branded 53-foot trailers from Hoekstra Transportation. The trucks will be traveling Kankakee and the surrounding area spreading a message of acceptance and love.  Steve Hoekstra, who also attended the event with some of his staff, envisioned “cause trucks” some time ago and now has trucks representing GiGi’s Playhouse, Ronald McDonald House, Zonta Club of Kankakee, and Bugles Across America.   Steve Hoekstra has seen first-hand the impact that GiGi’s has in this area and has supported their events for some time now. Two of his staff have family members featured on the trailers.  It was just awesome seeing the kids’ and adults who are featured on the trucks light up when they saw the trailer!!   The Hoekstra Transportation employees are pleased to partner with an organization that is driving real change like GiGi’s.

For years I dreamed of this opportunity! A rolling billboard with our children’s faces is yet another achievement in the journey toward global acceptance. GiGi’s Playhouse primarily helps people with Down syndrome through free programs, but we stand for people of all differences. Being different is one moment away, and everyone deserves acceptance, dignity, and opportunity. Steve Hoekstra and Hoekstra Transportation recognize the importance of supporting others who need a little more help, and they really stepped up.  The belief, hope, and confidence that will be created from this awesome trailer will be immeasurable. We are thrilled thinking about the new families we will meet because of this incredibly generous donation!

To really get how big this impact is you have to see it! Keep your eyes open out there.
