March 21, 2024 – In celebration of World Down Syndrome Day, GiGi’s Playhouse, the only network of Down Syndrome Achievement Centers, has partnered with HYROX America, the world’s fastest-growing fitness race. This affiliation will make GiGi’s Playhouse the Official National Charity Partner of HYROX America.
As part of the partnership, GiGi’s Playhouse and HYROX America will come together to increase awareness and acceptance of people with Down syndrome in the wider gym and fitness community. HYROX will join GiGi’s at national and local events over the course of the year, culminating in a month-long series of HYROX + GiGiFIT Acceptance Challenges at HYROX partner gyms during Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October.
“What I love about HYROX is it’s all about energy; it’s all about fitness; it’s all about health – that’s such an important piece for individuals with Down syndrome,” said Nancy Gianni, founder and Chief Belief Officer of GiGi’s Playhouse. “They [HYROX] did not think twice about including our kids. They jumped right in.”
Douglas Gremmen, Managing Director of HYROX North America, shared that the partnership with GiGi’s is a natural fit, as both HYROX and GiGi’s believe health and fitness should be accessible to all. Combining both running and functional workout stations, HYROX races are open to competitors of all ages and abilities. This unwavering commitment to accessibility is a key part of HYROX’s burgeoning growth.
This is the latest initiative in GiGi’s Playhouse’s ongoing efforts to improve the overall health and wellness of their participants. Through their GiGiFIT program, GiGi’s helps individuals with Down syndrome address and overcome health challenges.
This partnership with HYROX America will bolster GiGi’s Playhouse as it continues to change the way the world views Down syndrome and send a global message of acceptance for all.
