#GenerationG, the new G in town.

Guest poster and GiGi’s Playhouse mom, Beth,  shares some thoughts and a challenge with us today! Are you a “G”?

Urban dictionary defines a “G” as a term of endearment or to be gangster…as in “what’s up G?” This term was coined during the 90’s in the hip-hop world where it was cool to be considered a criminal, hoodlum or thug.

Today we are much more aware. We realize that being mean is the cowards way and to be passive is just as poisonous. Today we realize that being kind is the real gangster.

Today there is a new “G” in town; #generationg. In this generation, you can look around and see so much acceptance. Through the gift of social media, we are constantly being reminded of how much good there is in the world.  People are helping people and people are choosing to be oblivious to race, gender, and disabilities.  And while every now and then humanity disappoints us with some uncharacteristic gesture of indecency, more often then not, you will see people banding together to disparage the wrong that was done and make it right.

This generation is changing chic. We are fighting the good fight.  We are the modern majority who care about people.  We should be so proud of how we have evolved.  GiGi’s Playhouse is on the front line doing this work and they are asking you to join them in taking the #generationg pledge. Make the promise to always act with acceptance and generosity.  Make the promise to be better every day.

Be Accepting. Be Generous. Be Kind.  Be Generation G!

During Down Syndrome Awareness Month we need ONE MILLION people to promise that they will be accepting, generous and kind! It is so simple yet so powerful to join our voices together and show the world we are a bunch of “g’s” on a mission to change the world!

Three Easy Steps!
1. Visit gigisplayhouse.org/generationG and make the promise.
2. Draw a Heart with a G on your hand & Snap a selfie
3. Post to social media challenging 3 friends to do the same! Tag #generationG & #gigisplayhouse (we want to feature you!)
