October Happenings

October is upon us and our GiGi’s calendar is full of great opportunities! We just stepped into a new Quarter and are happy to say enrollments are open for our programs! Click here for more insights.  Read on to see some great ways to get involved in our community this month!

The first week of this month we held our 3rd Learn to Ride bike clinic.  So far we have given 30 kids the opportunity to learn foundation skills in biking!  What joy it is to see volunteers and families joining together to encourage, support, and teach these students.  We look forward to having more biking opportunities next summer!

Friday, Oct. 12 our Fantastic Friends group is going to meet Sean McElwee from “Born This Way!”  Traders Point Christian Church, Sunshine Social Club, and Down Syndrome Indiana are partnering up to host an evening for adults with intellectual disabilities — it’ll be an evening of dancing and an opportunity to meet Sean.  Do you want to join us?  Click here for more information!

The following Friday, Oct. 19, we are having a festive SMART outing to Hogan Farms for a Corn Maze and Hay Ride! All participants are allowed to bring 1 guest for free.  Make sure you are signed up for our Fun Friday events!! We cherish every opportunity to provide our participants with fun and new experiences.

We have an opportunity to attend the Heartland International Film Festival to view the movie “Spare Room,” which has an actor with Down syndrome as one of the main characters!  There are limited tickets, so claim yours here!  Each participant is encouraged to bring 1 guest.  And YES, this is FREE!

Lastly, we are excited to announce that GiGi’s Playhouse Indianapolis will host “GiGi’s Brew Ha Ha“ on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 416 Wabash. This fundraiser is key to expanding our programming (we’ve grown 44% this year!!) and voice in the world. The evening will kick-off at 6 pm and includes a comedy show with Scott Long, special guest appearance by Hunter Smith, raffle and more! Most importantly, this is an opportunity to celebrate achievements and continue to change the way people view Down syndrome.  *This event is adults 21+.

We hope you, your family, and friends are able to join us in all that’s happening this October!
