Fall 2023 Interns – Thank You!

Each semester, we are blow away by the amount of students who want to be a part of GiGi’s Indy. During this fall semester, 3 students joined us to bring their talents into the Playhouse. Saige and Daisy, 2 Ball State University students, are coming to the end of their 4 months internship. Sarah, a student from IUPUI, is with us until April 2024. We hope that you enjoy reading their reflections below!

“My experience as a GiGi’s playhouse intern has been nothing short of amazing. I have met so many incredible people throughout this experience including participants, families of the participants, the staff at GiGi’s, other interns, and volunteers. I have created many friendships and feel very lucky that I got to meet all the participants that I did because they make my day every day. I have had many laughs and so many good memories made throughout these last 4 months that I will cherish forever.

Going into this experience I was not sure what to expect because I had little knowledge on everything that GiGi’s does but boy was I blown away by how amazing of an organization it is. The community that they have built for all these participants and their families is an incredible thing and so inspiring. Throughout my time being an intern, I got to help lead programs, come up with ideas for programs, and help plan events such as the Boo Bash. It is wonderful to help plan and work on something and then be able to see it all come together and watch the participants have an amazing time.

Overall, this has been a fantastic internship experience and such a great ending to my time in college. I am going to miss spending my Wednesdays and Thursdays at GiGi’s Playhouse with the Achievers and GiGiFIT Toddlers. This internship has had a huge impact on me, and my career aspirations and I will miss all the participants dearly.”

“During my 2023 Fall Internship, I had a blast. I am honestly sad it is coming to an end. I hope I can return one day and either work or volunteer here at GiGi’s Playhouse Indianapolis or maybe I will go out of the country. I have had a great experience here at GiGi’s.

At GiGi’s, I was leading programs like GiGiFIT Toddler, and the children would melt my heart because they were having such a great time with the obstacle courses I would create. I also helped lead GiGiFIT Adult which was pretty amazing. It was a struggle at first, but I caught on. When the adults exercised, it was the best. They all tried their best and that is one of my favorite things.

The experience at GiGi’s is unforgettable, GiGi’s will also hold a special place in my heart. Thank you to everyone who has made my experience a blessing.”
