FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Phoenix, AZ — February 11, 2026 — Jennifer Gage, founder of GiGi’s Playhouse Phoenix, was honored with the prestigious Legacy Award for 13 years of service by GiGi’s Playhouse International founder Nancy Gianni at the Playhouse’s “Oh, The Places We’ll Go” Gala held January 31 at the Omni Scottsdale. The award recognizes individuals whose leadership, vision, and dedication have created a lasting impact within the GiGi’s Playhouse network.
Since opening its doors in February 2015, the Phoenix Playhouse has grown tremendously under Gage’s leadership, expanding both its space and programming to serve individuals with Down syndrome and their families throughout Arizona. The gala raised more than $600,000 to support the Playhouse’s free, purpose-driven programs.
What began with $35,000 in startup funding has evolved into a hub of opportunity and growth. In 2018, the Playhouse expanded into an adjacent space to launch GiGi University for adult participants and GiGi’s Kitchen—affectionately named Kaitlyn’s Kitchen after Gage’s daughter, who has Down syndrome. In 2021, the organization expanded again, opening a dedicated GiGiFIT studio that provides structured wellness and fitness programming for participants of all ages.
Most recently, the Phoenix team launched GiGi’s on the Go, a mobile outreach van bringing Playhouse programs and resources into underserved communities. The initiative reflects the Playhouse’s continued growth.
“Jennifer’s leadership embodies the mission of GiGi’s Playhouse,” said Nancy Gianni. “Her dedication and belief in what is possible for individuals with Down syndrome—and her commitment to turning that belief into action—has created meaningful, lasting impact for families in Arizona.”
Founded in 2003 by Nancy Gianni, GiGi’s Playhouse has grown into a network of 62 locations across the United States and Mexico, providing free, purposeful programming to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Each Playhouse is led by passionate community members who recognize the need for accessible programs and are committed to changing the way the world views Down syndrome.
The Phoenix Playhouse stands as a testament to this model.
