Partnerships to Strengthen the Down Syndrome Community

DSAW-SC and GiGi’s Playhouse Madison Board and Staff Networking Event

We believe that the Down syndrome community could never have too many advocates or too many resources. This is why our Playhouse and the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin- South Central (DSAW-SC) are working on building a strong relationship.

While our mission statements may be a little different, our goal is the same- to provide resources for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families. Families in the Down syndrome community are encouraged to participate in programming and events with both of our organizations because there is a wide variety of offerings at each.

This week some of our Board of Directors and staff members met for some networking time so we can get to know each other better and brainstorm ways to strengthen our partnership.

Our current ways of partnering are:

  • Attending each others events to show support and to share information about our programming.
  • In March we come together with the Waisman Center to host the Down Syndrome Day with the Experts. You can click to learn more and register for this FREE and informative annual event which will be a hybrid meeting-you can choose to attend in-person or virtually.
  • Share printed and digital resources with all our families
  • We each participated in an Empowered Caregiver Podcast in December- you can listen to that informative chat HERE

We are proud of the work being done with our organizations and look forward to the amazing things we will accomplish together.
