321 Days of Acceptance | Week 4

Welcome to week four of 321 Days of Acceptance from Generation G! Generation G is a conscious decision to be better every day.
Acceptance is a fundamental dignity for all people, regardless of ability. Acceptance is more than an act of charity, it is truly generosity “in action”.

acceptance is the very heart and the very best of humanity. without daily actions to create lasting acceptance, opportunities for present and future generations will falter.

In sharing a story and image each day it is our hope to flood social media with the truth about how normal Down syndrome is and how extraordinary people with Down syndrome are!  You are helping the mission of Generation G & acceptance by simply sharing these posts (Found each morning on our Facebook page) with your friends on social media! Here is who inspired us and made us smile in week 4……

Day 21- Today we meet the beautiful Juliette.

Juliette is 19 years old and enjoys attending Friday Friends at GiGi’s Playhouse Milwaukee, she is really loves to dance.

We think that magical extra chromosome might contain an extra dose of dance ability. Would you agree?

Day 22 – Today we meet Aiden from GiGi’s Playhouse-Sioux City. Aiden is 2 years old and loves getting his photo taken! Look at this little handsome ham!

Day 23 – Meet Lauren. Lauren attends GiGi’s Playhouse Des Moines. Lauren has been attending programs there since the very first day they opened their doors! She LOVES going to the Friday Friends program every Friday night where she sings karaoke, plays Wii, and dances with all her friends. GiGi’s has been a HUGE influence on our family and has helped Lauren with her social skills, independence, and confidence. #bestofall

Day 24 – We have another set of BEAUTIFUL friends from GiGi’s Playhouse Hoffman Estates. Lizbeth (left) & Lupe (right) are 14 years old. They are the best of friends. They love coming to Friends, Fun and Fitness, GiGi Fit and Teen Tastic programs. Both of them play soccer in their free time. Lizbeth is a very loving and caring person and Lupe is a jokester and very sweet! They both love meeting and welcoming new friends at programs as well.

MYTH: People Down syndrome are unable to form close interpersonal relationships & friendships.

TRUTH: People with Down syndrome socialize and have meaningful friendships. These friendships become very important parts of a fulfilling life. Sound familiar?

Where would any of us be with out our friends?

Day 25 – Meet Caroline from GiGi’s Playhouse Raleigh! Caroline is 5 years old. Her favorite FREE GiGi’s Playhouse purposeful programs are Leaps and Bounds and Young Athletes. During both programs there are obstacle courses that Caroline loves to jump, balance on and climb through. Caroline is working those large muscle groups and having fun doing it!

Day 26 – Meet Carly. Carly can be found with her awesome parents at GiGi’s Playhouse-Syracuse. Carly loves people and has a fantastic personality. Carly is always ready to high five and celebrate her friends. She is also a fashion diva!

When Carly was born 4 years ago it was a difficult time, her mama loved her so deeply but was gripped by fear….Vist the #gigisblog today and learn how sometimes acceptance may take time but love will always guid the way. Read more here.

Day 27 – Meet Gabriel, age 8 from GiGi’s Playhouse El Paso Gabriel loves attending the Special Olympics, Young Athletes program at GiGi’s Playhouse. Never underestimate what an individual with Down syndrome can accomplish. People with Down syndrome are big dreamers and hard workers. GiGi’s Playhouse is here to help & support each of these people and help them be their #bestofall!
