Participant Best of All: Aaron Sanchez

This month’s best of all is Aaron Sanchez who has been coming to the Playhouse since he was a teenager taking part in both 1-on-1 and group programs over the years, where he always brings his trademark fun- loving spirit and contagious smile. As of recent, he has made great strides in many programs – most namely GiGi’s Kitchen Adult and 1- on- 1 Literacy tutoring.
Aaron has become a frequent fixture of the kitchen program, where he is equally receptive to getting helpful guidance from volunteers & participants, just as he is open to lending a hand to help out with non- cooking responsibilities like taking out the trash, cleaning the tables, and handing out aprons & gloves, which keeps the program flowing. This spring in Literacy Tutoring, Aaron has made great strides in both blending and recognizing sight words, so much so that he will often go beyond what his tutor is asking of him and give an entire word in addition to the root sound he’s asked for. Over the spring session, seeing Aaron’s week- to- week breakthrough moments has created numerous “Best of All” moments – most recently his ability to learn via the “I Do, We Do, You Do” method when it comes to reading & pronouncing differentiating words like “way” & “weigh” or the different “ai” sounds in words like “rail” vs. “rain”. So because of this, we are celebrating Aaron
