The Truly Unique Sensei Amanda

Sensei Amanda has a passion for utilizing her skills in teaching our participants how to effectively protect themselves while learning the fine art of Karate. Amanda leads our Karate Kickers Program, making sure participants are following all safety protocols and respecting each others space. A way to have fun while working out and learning a great skill.

• How did you hear about GiGi’s Playhouse/GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego?

“An ad for it came up on my Instagram when they were still looking for a location in San Diego. After looking it up and seeing what it was, I contacted them to find out if they wanted to start a karate program.” 

• What inspired you to volunteer?

“At the time I was looking for a new location for an adaptive martial arts class, since We Rock the Spectrum in Poway had closed down. Gigi’s welcomed me with open arms.” 

• What is your favorite thing about GiGi’s Playhouse?

Gigi’s is unique as it’s run almost exclusively by volunteers. All of the programs are free for families. 

• What would you like us to incorporate or do?

As a volunteer, I’m very happy with the way Gigi’s is run and can’t think of any changes I’d like to see. 

• Is there anything you would like to add?

The families and the board of directors have been very good to me, and I plan to volunteer as long as they’ll have me!
