Open Play

This month we will have a morning music themed Open Play on Wednesday January 16th from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

This program invites families and their friends to the Playhouse for playtime! Open play helps promote positive beginnings for new families with a child with Down syndrome, creates awareness opportunities for peers and friends, as well as support and networking for current families. Open to families with children of all ages and their friends.

Parent Coffee Talk (children are welcome!)

Join us for a parent’s coffee talk! This will be an opportunity to network with other parents and learn about GiGi’s programs and resources. This month, join Mary Waltari, Esq. to learn about Special Needs Trust.

Leaps & Bounds (3-5 year olds)

This program focuses on the development of large and small muscle groups. Children will participate in fun and engaging activities that require movement and interaction with their development. Our Leaps & Bounds program is recommended for ages 3-5 year olds. Join us this month for a Giraffes Can’t Dance theme!

Playhouse Pals (5-8 year olds)

Playhouse Pals is an interactive and engaging program for participants ages 5 through 8. We support the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program also supports gross motor skills through active games, as well as fine motor skills & self-help skills.

Karate Kickers (ages 8+)

Karate Kickers is back!

The benefits of karate for people with Down syndrome are endless. Karate focuses on development of balance, coordination, discipline, focus, attention, physical fitness, and confidence. There will be no physical contact between peers. For youth with Down syndrome and siblings ages 8 and up.

Art Explosion (school age)

Art explosion provides hands-on experience with different types of art, such as canvas, clay, and photography. This gives individuals an outlet to express themselves, build confidence and socialize with peers.

Crossfit @ Crossfit Humanity (8+ year olds)

Join GiGi’s Playhouse and CrossFit Humanity for a fitness program for individuals age 8+ and their siblings.The coaches will teach technique and formulate routines to help participants reach their goals and work on wellness while being be part of a supportive community!

Teen Tastic (13-17 year olds)

Teen Tastic is an interactive and engaging program for teens ages 13 through 18. This
program is for teenagers with Down syndrome and those without Down
syndrome. We support the development of social skills, fine motor skills, self-help skills,
and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program
may also support gross motor skills through active games. Join us in January for goal setting and minute to win it games!Click here to RSVP for January 25th at 7:00 p.m.

Destination Discovery (All Ages)

Destination Discovery supports the development of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, social skills and language through purposeful play and peer to peer interaction in a causal and fun setting. In addition this program also brings families together to share experiences and build relationships.
This month join us for a winter wonderland and animal theme!

Fantastic Friends (18 year olds and up)

Our Fantastic Friends program supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual fun setting. For January’s FF meeting, we will be doing a PJ and Movie Night and showing the movie Pitch Perfect.  We would like to ask participants to come in their PJ’s and bring a comfy chair, pillow, or blanket to sit on while we watch the movie.  We will also be making build your own nachos.  For those who aren’t interested in watching the movie, we will have board games, Wii, and art pages.  The meeting will go from 7:30-9:30.
