World Down Syndrome Day is a significant day throughout the world. On March 21^st, people come together to give a voice and advocate for individuals with disabilities and celebrate their successes.

Celebrating World Down Syndrome Day!

Our #21DaysofEmpowerment is meant to showcase a self-advocate for every day in March leading up to 3/21. These individuals are changing the way the world sees the Down syndrome community. They have been able to pursue their dreams and in that path have found a voice to educate others.

We also want to take a moment to recognize those supporting these individuals. As it is often said, “It takes a village!” and it’s so true. Behind these amazing self-advocates we can find parents, siblings, extended family, close family friends, teachers, coaches, therapists and so many other believers. It’s because of them, and their refusal to accept limitations, that these individuals have succeeded. It’s also thanks to them that we continue to see more and more barriers being broken down.

One does not need to look too far to find inspiring stories. The parents who are fighting for inclusion in their child’s classroom, the manager who is hiring an individual with special needs, or the philanthropist who sees the benefit in supporting causes like GiGi’s Playhouse. To all these people, we say, “Thank you! Keep advocating, keep believing, keep volunteering, keep donating. We are changing the world, one day at a time!”.
