Summer Fun and Exciting News!
Exciting things are happening here at the Playhouse and for GiGi’s nationwide. Summer programming is in full swing. Friends, Fun and Fitness, Tutoring sessions, Science Camp, LMNOP and so much more. If you have not been to Playhouse is awhile, we encourage you to come in, meet our new staff, and meet the new families that are attending programming. Check out the calendar on our website to see the what, when, where and how for all of the summer programs. You will also see on the calendar a couple of Special Events coming up.
The Playhouse is honored to be the charity of choice for the following two events.
Battle of the Badges: July 10, 2016, a softball game at Modern Woodmen Park featuring the Rock Island Fire & Police vs Davenport Fire & Police. Tickets are available at the Playhouse.
GiGi’s Night with the Quad Cities Mallards: October 14, 2016 with proceeds benefiting the Playhouse.
These are in addition to an End of Summer Family and Volunteer Celebration, our annual Superhero 5K Run, Walk and Kids Dash and a 5-year Birthday celebration here at the Playhouse. You can find more information about all of these exciting and fun events in our newsletter and on our social media sites.
Now on to the nationwide news! Many of you may have seen or heard that the founder of GiGi’s Playhouse, Nancy Gianni was recognized as a 2016 CNN Hero. This is a huge honor and a well deserving recognition. You can see the coverage for that on the CNN website. This recognition is good for all of the Playhouses including ours because it helps bring national awareness to GiGi’s mission and vision.
Mission: to change the way the world sees Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community.
Vision: to see a world where individuals with Down syndrome are accepted and embraced by their families, schools, and communities
We hope that you are as excited about these as we are.
See You at the Playhouse!
