Love Our Team – Elizabeth, Isabella, and Diana
Isabella
Isabella (Bella) is going to be tutoring this spring and is also helping with planning our World Down Syndrome Day celebration.
Isabella is looking forward to building a relationship with people in the Quad Cities community outside of Augustana College and gaining a better knowledge of Down syndrome.
When asked why she wanted to intern at GiGi’s, she had this to say:
“I am involved because it was a great opportunity to build my career skills. On a more personal note, I chose to seek out an internship at GiGi’s Playhouse because its an organization that strives to help develop relationships throughout its community through education and fun activities. GiGi’s does not only connect people with Down syndrome it connects a community of people who want to enjoy each others company but find little outlets to do so. The relationship between the volunteers and participants is wholesome and revolutionary for both parties. I want to take part in these relationships and spread the word about GiGi’s to others in the Quad Cities communities.”
Isabella is just getting started in her journey with GiGi’s but she have this to say: “GiGi’s is best of all because it educates its volunteers about down syndrome prior to starting their work, but GiGi’s does it in an effective way where it translates the message that people with down syndrome have other aspects of their lives and that’s what the organization strives to highlight as well.”
Isabella shared this fun fact: “My favorite food is ice cream! I will try all flavors and depending on the strength of the craving I will eat it at any time of the day.”
