February 12th Learning Through Play

GiGi’s is collaborating with the Child Abuse Council and AOK Network to bring you Sweet as Candy Hug-A-Book Event! Play promotes creativity, encourages motor development, and provides the foundation for important skills such as reading and problem-solving. We would love for you and your family to join us for an evening of PLAY! This is a FREE drop-in play event. We will have a variety of Valentine’s Day-themed activities for children ages 0-7 and their families to enjoy together. This event is open to all families including those that are not involved with GiGi’s Playhouse. Each child will leave with a bag and a book.

Programs

LMNOP (Language, Music N’ Our Peeps (0-3 years)

LMNOP is an interactive and engaging program designed to guide parents and young children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication using music and language-based activities. The theme will be teeth! We recommend this program for ages birth-3 years.

2 & Under (0-2 years)

2 and Under is the perfect place for children to meet new friends, learn and grow; while parents have the opportunity to socialize and network with one another!

Teen Tastic (13-17) & Fantastic Friends (18+)

Teen Tastic promotes friendship, social interactions, communication through a variety of social activities, outing, and games for teens. Participants in Teen Tastic gain confidence, leadership skills, and empowerment while working as part of a team or on individual projects and tasks.

Fantastic Friends program supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual fun setting. Adult participants participate in the planning of activities so that group activities are based on personal interests.

Parent University Webinar (Parents/Guardians)

Building The Dream Team – This team that you comprise is so important to ensure your child’s future success! In this class we will focus on the importance of picking the right people for the right job. We will start on how to build the team – making it easier for your future caregiver and educating your trustee. We will give you the tools so that everything is mapped out for your future “Dream Team”.

Playhouse Pals (5-8 years) and Kids Club (9-12 years)

Playhouse Pals and Kid’s Club are teaming up to this month for a teeth theme. Playhouse Pals is an interactive and engaging program. We support the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. Kids Club supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting.

Destination Discovery (all ages)

Supports the development of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, social skills and language through purposeful play and peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program also brings families together to share experiences and build relationships. All ages welcome.

Open Play (all ages)

Open Play invites families and their friends to the Playhouse for playtime! Open Play helps promote positive beginnings for new families with a child with Down syndrome, creates awareness opportunities for peers and friends, as well as support and networking for current families. Come ready for fun and a crazy good time! Open to families with children of all ages and their friends.

GiGiFIT Teen (13-17 years)

All new fitness program beginning February 6 and meeting every Thursday for 12 weeks! The program will be led by Paige Kelly, DPT. Applications are closed. GiGiFIT Teen introduces the key movements (MMPT Principles) of foundational exercises, hip strengthening exercises, and vestibular/balance exercises.

Social Dancing (13 and up)

Spend your Monday evenings with QCSoDa dancers! Sign Up closes February 17th. GiGi’s is partnering with QC SoDa the local Social Dancing club to bring you Social Dance. QC SoDa will be leading a 9 week (10 sessions) of a dance chosen by the group of participants (ballroom, salsa, waltz, etc). The dance will then be performed on April 25th at the “i have a Voice” Gala.

Registration is required for this program to participate. This is a session-based program registering below signs you up for all 10 sessions and you are expected to attend each date.
