April 2024 Best of All

As April comes to a close, we’re looking back with smiles and hope!

Participant Best of All

Recently, Amelia’s big sister Grace attended a speech session with her. Amelia asked her to come in the room with her, and being a great sister, she did.  While taking turns with big sister, Amelia worked so hard and was able to get all of her tasks done in record time, leaving extra play time, which is always fun. Amelia also met a speech milestone, she was able to discriminate between sounds she has never been able to do before!  Miss Ann (SLP) was incredibly proud!  Amelia was even able to produce the different sounds with photo cues accurately.  This is a BIG #bestofall for Amelia, and her big sister, Grace. Sibling participation and support make such a positive impact in our friends and Amelia’s sisters Grace and Gabby are awesome examples.  Thank you to all the girls.

Volunteer Spotlight

April was Volunteer Appreciation Month and the week of April 21st was Volunteer Appreciation Week. We celebrated by handing out gifts to all of the volunteers who came in throughout the week and a night of brews at Pour Bros brewery in Moline. We also highlighted several volunteers on social media throughout the week.

Thank you SO much for the cutest Volunteer Appreciation gift! I love the decorated canvas bag, so useful & a special way to take GiGi’s with me. The little zip lock “treat” bag with the clever thank you note naming all the treats is SO cute! You guys always find ways to outdo yourselves & it does make me feel appreciated. LOVE your creativity & I’m guessing some GiGi’s friends were part of the preparation. They sure did a great job!

Volunteer Tutor Feedback

A bonus to the month was having staff from John Deere come for the United Way Day of Caring. This small group of volunteers assisted with updating our kitchen space with a new brighter paint color and backsplash too! This project has been on our backburner for quite some time so it’s great to finally have it completed (mostly).

Playhouse Inspiration

It’s a baby boom and it’s left us smiling, full of hope, and inspired for the future! In April, we held Mommy & Me for moms with littles 5 and under. The moms of these littles were happy to meet other moms and learn more about the programs that GiGi’s offers. We are excited to get to know these new families and watch their little ones grow up and become lifelong friends.

YOU can submit your Best of All stories and moments too!

These stories are typically chosen by staff but we’d love to hear from you too! If you see or hear something worth highlighting, please let us know!
