Strong Together: John Deere Touch a Tractor

On July 31, 2018 we had an event at John Deere Headquarters in Moline.

An amazing John Deere employee, Felicia, reached out to us several months ago and was interested in having GiGi’s participants receive a private tour of John Deere Headquarters. We also would get to check out some of the very cool equipment. After months of planning and adding on another very helpful John Deere employee, Rachel, we were ready to go.

We had a great turn out! Our friends made crafts, played on the tractors and other equipment, had a snack and a tour of the facility. All our friends had the best time playing on the machines. Many of them have smaller versions of the equipment at home and it was amazing to see their faces light up when they got to climb up on the “big ones”.  As we walked around taking pictures, we could see all the smiles on our friends faces and that made our day. Their parents were in awe of how lucky we were to be a part of this event.

We heard…

“This is really awesome.”

“The volunteers are so great with my child.”

“I can’t wait to come back and check this out again.”

Felicia and Rachel were just two of the many amazing volunteers that put this event together. Their team was amazing, helping with everything from set up and check in, to crafts and completing tours. We cannot thank Felicia, Rachel and their entire team for this amazing day. They were all shining examples of generationG that day: accepting, generous and kind.  From all of us here at GiGi’s, we thank you for allowing us to show you who we are and what we can do!

We have several families, donors and volunteers who work for John Deere. John Deere and its employees truly believe in us here at GiGi’s Playhouse Quad Cities and we could not be more blessed. I know our families are grateful to everyone who helped to put on this event. Our friends will be talking about this for a very long time. #strongertogether #generationG

Thank you John Deere and staff!
