February 2024 Best of All
Every month we recap special happenings, events, and people that inspired us. We refer to these as Best of All moments. The recaps are featured in a report for our board and the national office. We will begin featuring them here on our blog so you can see all the amazing happenings and people who are involved with our Playhouse. Here are 3 we chose from February 2024!
Participant Best of All
Lisa and a few other GiGi Prep & Achievers participants stay late one Tuesday night to help welcome and serve people attending our Tutor Talk night and the Board Members during their board meeting. It was wonderful to have them here for these meetings and the attendees loved seeing them there.
Volunteer Spotlight
Aryn (in the yellow) is a current St Ambrose University Intern. She was instrumental in assisting with our Prep & Achievers programs. She is also tutoring a participant in literacy and helping plan other group programs here. She’s a little on the shy side but we have seen her come out of her shell while here.
Playhouse Inspiration
Scott County Sheriff’s Reserves participated in No Shave November and chose to donate the proceeds from this to GiGi’s! How does this work? Those who participate pay to not shave during November or to have facial hair the entire year! Typically, they must be clean-shaven. The group donated $630 to GiGi’s. That means there was a lot of facial hair growing in November. As you can see by the photo, Eric (on the left) still has his. He paid for the entire year. Eric is a big supporter of GiGi’s! He and his wife attended the gala and are friends with one of our families. He is out there spreading the word on our behalf. A true example of Generation G.
YOU can submit your Best of All stories and moments too!
These stories are typically chosen by staff but we’d love to hear from you too! If you see or hear something worth highlighting, please let us know!
