More Than Basketball: The Brothers Making a Difference

At GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans, our purposeful programs are only possible because of dedicated volunteers who generously share their time, talents, and energy with our community. This month, we’re excited to recognize three volunteers who have made a big impact this summer: Will, Jack, and Jacob!

Will, Jack, and Jacob are sophomores at Brother Martin High School who chose to spend part of their summer leading our GiGiMOVE: Basketball program for teens and adults on Saturday mornings. Week after week, they arrive with enthusiasm, encouragement, and a genuine desire to help our participants grow both on and off the court.

Whether they’re demonstrating a new basketball skill, celebrating a made basket, or offering words of encouragement after a missed shot, these three volunteers bring contagious energy and positivity to every session. Even on the hottest New Orleans mornings, they help make the court a place filled with laughter, teamwork, and confidence.

GiGiMOVE: Basketball is about so much more than the game. Through movement and play, participants build gross motor skills, improve coordination, strengthen social skills, and gain confidence while forming meaningful friendships. Every cheer, high five, and word of encouragement helps create an environment where participants feel comfortable trying something new and celebrating each other’s successes.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans, and this summer, these three young men have truly embodied what it means to serve their community. Their willingness to give their time has created meaningful experiences and lasting memories for our participants and families.

Thank you, Will, Jack, and Jacob, for spending your summer with the GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans community! We are so grateful for the time, energy, and encouragement you’ve shared with our participants each week. Your kindness, leadership, and enthusiasm have made a lasting impact, and we can’t wait to see all that you’ll accomplish in the future.
