About GiGi’s New Orleans

GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans Down Syndrome Achievement Center opened as the 50th location in the GiGi's Playhouse national network in October 2020. Although we were contending with a global pandemic, we believed it was important to open the first achievement center for individuals with Down syndrome in Louisiana as soon as possible! GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans provides free purposeful programs to individuals with Down syndrome from birth through adulthood. Our team is proud to be able to help individuals with Down syndrome and their families and to change the way the world views Down syndrome.

GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans Down Syndrome Achievement Center is a place where parents can go to for information when they first receive a Down syndrome diagnosis; where infants and toddlers with Down syndrome attend group enrichment programs; where school-age children receive literacy and math tutoring which specifically designed to address the learning differences that often accompany the diagnosis; where teens and adults make friends while participating in fitness programs specially designed to complement their joint laxity and congenitally low muscle tone; where families meet to discuss best-practices; and where members of the community come to teach and learn from people different than themselves in order to create a more inclusive city.

With over 58+ brick-and-mortar locations across the United States and Mexico and 200 inquiries to start new locations all over the world, GiGi’s Playhouse is the ONLY network of Down Syndrome Achievement Centers. Every day, we provide FREE, life-changing therapeutic, educational, and career training programs for 30,000+ individuals of all ages.

Down syndrome is the largest chromosomal disability in our country and yet, it is the least funded. From a prenatal diagnosis to career skills, we make a lifetime commitment to remain by their side. Families are empowered with all the tools their child needs to succeed!

Through free programs and through our Generation G Campaign for global acceptance, we EMPOWER families by maximizing opportunities for daily achievement and lasting acceptance. To ensure lasting acceptance, we must show the world what individuals with Down syndrome are truly capable of achieving as students, co-workers, volunteers, friends, and valued members of their communities. Our program outcomes help advance this vital social impact goal.

GiGi's Playhouse is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and is solely funded by donations.
