World Down Syndrome Day Shopping Fundraiser
Giving Back to the Community
Our site manager, Kelly, is lucky enough to witness incredible acts of kindness that benefit the Madison Playhouse every day. One of the most recent acts occurred when Sheryl Pasamonte reached out to our Playhouse in February.
Sheryl is a volunteer with the Portland GiGi’s Playhouse, a blogger and mom to a Playhouse participant named Ka’imi!
Sheryl has a friend in Ripon, WI that owns a retail store and they wanted to host a fundraiser for World Down Syndrome Day in honor of Ka’imi. She reached out to the Madison Playhouse to let us know that she promised her friend to help organize a fundraiser and that the Madison Playhouse would be the beneficiary of whatever they raised.
Ka’imi spent his first World Down Syndrome Day in the NICU but on his third one, he spent it melting hearts and inspiring all who met him in Ripon!
Downtown Ripon, WI has a quaint shopping district with a family focused feel and a group of retail stores all collaborated with Sheryl to to raise money by donating a portion of their sales along with selling raffle tickets for gift baskets.
This incredible community ended up raising about $2,000!
Our Playhouse is so incredibly grateful not only for the donations but for the impactful awareness this event created.
Thank you to the following stores that took part in this opportunity to give back to the community and to Sheryl and Ka’imi for their vision and inspiration!
