Wish Upon a Badger Experience

Our Playhouse has a great relationship with Special Olympics Wisconsin and when they reached out to see if we had anyone that would be interested in a ‘Wish Upon a Badger” Experience, we jumped at the chance!

Due to COVID the UW and Special Olympics came up with a virtual way for one of our participants to interact with the UW Women’s Basketball team!

Jacqueline Wish Upon a Badger said  ‘This season Wisconsin Athletics wants to continue to transform the lives of young Badgers going through difficult times. Through the help of our community partners, we are selecting kids who are in 6th grade or younger to participate in our Wish Upon A Badger experience.  This unique wish experience will virtually connect a young Badger to a sports program for a behind that scenes look at their team. Student-athletes will provide a message of hope to send along to participants. ” 

Our lucky Playhouse participant was Jaynaba!

Even though she can’t Jump Around together with the team at  the Kohl Center, Jaynaba does get to be a part of the gameday experience by having her very own Bucky Board!  The team will sign the Bucky Board and send it to Jaynaba after the season

She and her family were able to talk and interact with Imani and Sydney, who are players on the UW-Women’s Basketball team! The players shared some of their warm up’s and best shots while Jaynaba followed along at home.  Her brother brought her a basketball to use and her parents think Basketball is her new favorite sport.

During their time together, Jaynaba also taught the players some French words! Jaynaba speaks French, Wolof, and started learning English last year!
