Volunteer of the month: Zoë

Meet Zoë

Zoë came to us via the Edgewood College Graduate Child Life Program. She had participated in a volunteer orientation for a group of nursing students. Zoë immediately stood out because she immediately decided to take the literacy tutor class the following weekend … we are talking about a four-hour class and started tutoring literacy. In addition to having a literacy student, we could count on Zoë to come to every volunteer opportunity or if we needed someone short notice. She also became a regular volunteer for helping with SMART and TeenTastic! Zoë is amazing and was amazing in helping a child diagnosed with Down syndrome and autism. We are so grateful to have Zoë at the Playhouse. She truly became an integral part at GiGi’s, loved by other volunteers and all participants!

“I learned about GiGi’s when we were given the opportunity to do a practicum this past spring semester through the Child Life Master’s Program at Edgewood College. I loved volunteering through the practicum so much, that I decided I wanted to continue with this wonderful organization. I enjoy volunteering in multiple programs at GiGi’s. Every participant ranging from toddlers to older adults seem to always be engaged and having fun as well as appearing to genuinely love being at the clubhouse. I have never left GiGi’s Playhouse without feeling inspired and am always ready to come back. Both Julia and Judy have been such great role models and have taught me so much during the short time I have been involved. I feel so lucky to be able to volunteer at GiGi’s Playhouse and to have had the opportunity to get to know and work with such wonderful people.” (Zoë)
