Meet the MC for our Gala “i have a voice”: Meghan Reistad

Meet Meghan Reistad at our Gala “i have a Voice” on October 25th, 2019 at the Lake Windsor Country Club. We are honored to have Meghan as our MC that evening!

Meghan is an early riser as a morning anchor for NBC15. She joined the WMTV team in November 2016 and launched a new newscast as the CW News at 9 Anchor. While in that role, Meghan spearheaded the “In Focus” series, which shared more about the individuals behind many unique issues in our community. She earned a 2017 Golden Gavel Award of Commendation from the State Bar of Wisconsin for her continued coverage on Janesville Police Department’s mental health flagging system and a MBJA Award of Merit for best newscast in the CW News at 9’s first year. During the summer of 2018, Meghan transitioned to anchor The Morning Show on NBC15.

Prior to living in Madison, Meghan worked as an anchor and reporter at KAAL in southeast Minnesota. There, she covered a wide variety of stories ranging from research on breakthrough cancer drugs and organ donation at Mayo Clinic to investigative pieces on home security camera hacking. In January 2015, Meghan anchored KAAL’s first HD broadcast from its new Rochester location and studio. Meghan was also recognized by the Associated Press with a first place award in writing in 2015.

Meghan started college at UW-Eau Claire and completed her degree summa cum laude from St. Cloud State University. During college she spent just over a year in Orlando, Florida, working as a dancer at Walt Disney World. While in Orlando she also interned at WESH 2 News and later gained experience as an intern at KBJR in Duluth, Minnesota.

Outside of news, Meghan enjoys taking advantage of all four seasons the Midwest has to offer. From snowmobiling and downhill skiing in the winter to water skiing in the summer (or at least making an attempt), she is happiest anywhere with water, sand and sun. Meghan also enjoys volunteering as a coach for McFarland Dance Team and Gilda’s Club in Madison. She also loves visiting area classrooms to share about her job and, hopefully, inspire future journalists.

Meghan chose to pursue a career in news because she loves people and storytelling. She cannot imagine a job that better combines the two and is honored to share her passion with the Madison community.

Tickets to our Gala are now for sale at: https://gigisplayhouse.org/madison/gala/
