Meet our Guest Blogger- Allie

We are excited to share that Playhouse mom, Allie, has agreed to share her insights as a guest blogger! We hope you’re as excited to learn from Allie as we are.

Allie’s Introduction:

Hi my name is Allie and I’m Norah’s mom. We found out when I was 20 weeks pregnant that Norah would be born with Down syndrome. We had no idea what the future would hold, and it’s even better than we could have imagined. We were fortunate to find so much love and support through GiGi’s and others in the DS Community, and love to share our story and experiences with others.

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, my social media was filled with wonderful quotes of his. The quote above stuck with me and I reflected back on a year ago and all the emotions and struggles I was facing with Norah’s prenatal diagnosis.

I wish I had found this quote during that time, so I felt the urge to share it with those that are facing uncertainty.

Whether it be uncertainty after a prenatal diagnosis about how your life may look completely different than you planned, or uncertainty after a birth diagnosis and you are carrying guilt about what is to come as you hold your sweet babe.

Wherever you are on your journey, I want to be that reminder to have faith.

Take that first step, even if you have no idea where this will lead you.

I promise you that staircase will lead you on an incredible journey.
