Last Summer at Monona Dr. GiGi’s Playhouse

We invite you to join us this Summer at the Playhouse for our LAST Session of FREE Programming in our current space on Monona Dr. Our new forever home in Fitchburg will be opening late August and Fall programming will take place there!

ALL Group Programs and Tutoring start the week of June 15. Speech Therapy will run from June 22 – July 28. As always, all of our Programs will run the same time and day each week. Check out our weekly Group Program offerings organized by age-group and our special events below!  

Programs for Birth – 4 years old 

• Language, Music, n’ Our Peeps (LMNOP)  – is an interactive and engaging program designed to guide parents/caregivers and young children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication while using music, sensory and social-based activities.
  • Recommended for ages birth – 4 years old
  • This program runs weekly, Fridays from9:00-11:00am starting June 19 – ending on August 7

Programs for School-Agers: ages 5-12 years old

• STEM – STEM Lab Kids (8-12 year olds) is an engaging and dynamic group program that nurtures essential developmental skills through hands-on exploration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. This program fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving while developing cognitive skills and building confidence. STEM Lab empowers individuals with Down syndrome to explore STEM concepts in a fun, supportive and interactive environment through experiments, creative challenges, and innovative problem-solving tasks. 
  • Recommended for ages 5-12 years old
  • This program runs bi-weekly, Saturdays from 10:00-11:30am
  • Program dates are: June 27, July 11, July 25, August 8 (half class)

• Special Olympics Young Athletes – SOYA introduces basic sport skills, like running, kicking and throwing. SOYA gives families the opportunity to share the joy of sports with their community!
  • Recommended for ages 5-12 years old
  • This program runs bi-weekly, Saturdays from 10:00-11:30am
  • Program dates are: June 20, July 18, August 1, August 8 (half class)

• Dance Kids – join us at the Playhouse on Saturday, July 11th from 12:00-1:00pm for a Kids Dance Collaboration with A Step Above – a local dance studio on Monona Drive. Lead by lead dancer, Abigail Olsen, this hour will be filled with lots of fun and movement! This class will introduce basic dance moves, techniques and movements – with goals of increasing gross motor skills, mental and muscle memory, and increasing cardiovascular conditioning, strength, flexibility and coordination.
  • Saturday, July 11th from 12:00-1:00pm
  • Registration is required – sign-up below!
  • Recommended for ages 5-12 years old.

Programs for Teens: ages 13-17 years old  

• TeenTastic + GiGi’s Kitchen Teen – focuses on building social skills with friends by participating in team-based activities, games and other social activities. Skill development includes understanding compromise, turn-taking, problem-solving, sportsmanship and more!
  • Recommended for ages 13-18 years old   
  • This program runs weekly, Tuesdays from 5:30-7:00pm starting June 16 – ending August 4

Programs for Adults: ages 18+

• Fantastic Friends + GiGi’s Kitchen Adult – a fun purposeful & social gathering for adults with Down syndrome, their peers and the community. This program supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. Participants will have the option of which activity or activities they participate in each week. Activities include: social skill building, arts & crafts, board games, sport/fitness games, and cooking.
  • Recommended for adults ages 18+
  • This program runs weekly, Thursdays from 5:30-7:00pm starting June 18 – ending August 6

• GiGiFIT Adult – focuses on building social skills with friends by participating in team-based activities, games and other social activities. Skill development includes understanding compromise, turn-taking, problem-solving, sportsmanship and more!
  • Recommended for adults ages 18+
  • This program will run weekly on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00pm starting June 17 – ending August 5
