Community, Fun and Acceptance at the Dash!

Get ready for an unforgettable day of community, fun, and acceptance at our 5th Annual Dash for Down Syndrome! Our goal is to raise $60,000+ to keep life-changing programs FREE for over 420 families.

PACKET PICK-UP and DAY OF INFORMATION

REGISTRATION CUT-OFF and TEAM PACKET PICK UP

  • Online registration closes 9pm 4/21  BUT you can still register in-person, at the park on Saturday. 
    • Friends and family will still be able to make an online donation to teams. 
  • We can take cash, card or checks the day of.
    • Our food and drink truck partners are sharing a portion of the days proceeds and cash is preferred for that if possible!
  • TEAM CAPTAINS and those not on a team: You can pick up your teams run/walk packets at the Playhouse (4104 Monona Dr.), that  include the event t-shirt, race bib, and swag, on Wednesday, April 22nd 8:30am-7pm and Thursday, April 23rd 8am-7pm.
    • We ask that only team captains come to pick up and take their entire teams’ bags
  • Any bags not picked up will be brought to the event on April 25th and can be picked up at the registration table under the big tent.

Day of Timeline and Parking

  • Location:
    • Winnequah Park 
    • 5301 Healy Lane Monona
  • Parking: 
    • There is parking in lots near the park by the big tent and by the park shelter/playground
  • This year everything will be under the big tent!
    • When you arrive come to the tent, which is by the start/finish line
    • Visit community partners that will be set up
    • Take a selfie at our special selfie station
    • Pick up some GiGi’s and partner swag
  • Restrooms: 
    • The park shelter will be available and there will be port-o-potty’s (including ADA), by the tent. 
  • Registration/Check in: 
    • In person registration is from 8:30-9:30am
      • Cash or charge are both options
    • If you do not pick up your team bags this week, you can grab them at the check-in table.
    • The popular kids dash takes place at 11am in the field.
      • When you arrive you will be able to register for the FREE kids dash. 
      • Everyone participating in this does need a waiver signed and will need to wear a wrist band to show the waiver was signed. 
  • 5k fun run and 1 mile walk: 
    • Plan to be to the start line by 9:50 am
      • The run starts at 10am
        • Please note the roads are not closed for this event so when going through the neighborhoods please stay to the side and don’t go more than 2 people wide.  
      • The walk starts after the runners are out.
        • The one mile route is on a paved sidewalk through a field. 
  • Food and Drink:
    • The following trucks will be at the events:

      • Donut NV
      • Tom’s Coffee
      • Kona Ice
        • Every registered participant will receive a FREE shave ice! (Go to the GiGi’s table under the tent to pick your coupon up)
  • Fun and free activities after the run/walk:
    • Face painters
    • Selfie Station
    • Field Games
    • Bucky Badger visit 
    • Kids Dash
    • Community Partner tables and Madison Reading Project’s Reading Bus
    • Participate in a very special, super hero themed art project with our friends from Arts for All Wisconsin
    • Sign or put your hand print on the Generation G Pledge at the GiGi’s table!
    • After the kids dash (by 11:30) we will be announcing the 4 award winners!
      • Top individual fundraiser
      • Top team fundraiser
      • Team Spirit award
      • Largest team award
  • Zuri’s Furry Friends– think build-a bear (additional fee) will have their own tent behind the big tent
  • We will have an assortment of GiGi’s Playhouse apparel and mugs for sale (cash or charge)
