Volunteer Spotlight – Celia

Introducing Celia, one of our amazing volunteers! She has given of her time on and off at GiGi’s Playhouse Twin Cities for 8 years. “I love my GiGi’s friends! There is not a program or day that I don’t look forward to coming to the Playhouse and being with my volunteer and participant friends!” said Celia. We know our participants look forward to seeing her as well. She is always greeted with a loud yell of “Celia” followed by a big hug.

As you might have seen on social media, we have been working on pickleball with our participants during the fitness portion of Achievers, and Celia has taken the lead. Every week, our participants learn new skills and have fun while doing it. Participants run to our gym when it is their turn to play, and some even ask to stay later. We have both seasoned and new pickleball players and she ensures that everyone has fun and feels successful no matter what their physical capabilities are.

Like many of our volunteers, they don’t just give; they also receive something back, and Celia is no exception. She said, “GiGi’s has taught me so much! The biggest is the immense capacity of love that you can have and outwardly share with others (plus a bit of patience).”

Over the 8 years of volunteering, Celia has many great memories, but what stands out is Drama Troupe. “I absolutely have loved seeing all the participants’ hard work and practice come to the stage for the Drama Troupe performances. We have some top actors in our bunch!”

Thank you, Celia, for being an amazing volunteer at GiGi’s Playhouse Twin Cities. We appreciate your commitment to the success of our programs!
