Bring the whole family in for a fun time at GiGi’s! This is the perfect opportunity to gather and get to know other GiGi’s families! Purposeful activities, games, information and refreshments will help to create friendships and memories!

Literacy

The One-on-One Literacy tutoring program for individuals with Down syndrome provides instruction based on the interests and inspirations of each student. The Literacy tutoring program supports the increase of sight word recognition, vocabulary, comprehension, articulation, self-esteem, speech clarity and fine motor skills. Our trained tutors provide motivating and purposeful lessons designed to keep our students engaged and learning both during sessions and when extending activities at home. Recommended for ages 3+.

The One-on-One Math tutoring program uses a multi-sensory, strength-based approach to build confidence and success for our students. The Math tutoring program supports the increase of the range of math skills, self-esteem, confidence, critical thinking, problem solving skills, independence and autonomy, and fine motor skills. Our research-based curriculum encompasses a variety of strategies and techniques to ensure that every student can be successful when learning math. Recommended for ages 3+.

Promotes support, friendship, networking and socialization! Come together to embrace your child’s diagnosis, share experiences and learn from one another.

St. Louis Park Nuestros Angeles, otherwise known as Hispanic Parent Group:  Provides support, friendship, networking, and socialization for Spanish-speaking families at the Playhouse. All families are invited. A different family shares food each month with the group.

Open Play

Promotes positive beginnings for new families, creates awareness opportunities for peers and friends while allowing families to network and support one another. Come ready for fun and a crazy good time! Open to all families of all ages.

St. Louis Park Open Play helps promote positive beginnings for new families with a child with Down syndrome, creates awareness opportunities for peers and friends, as well as support and networking for current families. Open to families with children of all ages, siblings and their friends!

Cooking Club

Get cooking with your friends at GiGi’s! This program is geared towards building safety awareness in the kitchen, preparing healthy meals that taste great.

St. Louis Park Cooking club is led by Andrew Doherty, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Participants will focus for three classes on nutrition, basic kitchen safety, and knife skills. We will also cook a delicious meal and eat together in a social group setting. (Ages 9-12 and 13-17)

Music

Tap into your inner rock star where every voice shines!  Music supports the increase of self-confidence, social skills, communication and motor skills.

South Metro Students work on social, academic, gross motor and fine motor skills through music, rhythm, games and instrument playing with a Board-Certified Music Therapist.
St. Louis Park Music class is led by musical theater pros Nancy and Aaron Houseman. Music is open to participants and friends/family members of participants who love to sing. We will include a few songs to learn and potentially perform at GiGi’s and other locations (e.g. senior living and schools). Anyone who loves to sing and become even better performers will enjoy this program. 

Speech & Language 1-on-1

The GiGi's Amina Grace One-on-One Speech & Language program provides youth, teens and adults with greatly expanded opportunities to evolve and refine their speech and language skills This program supports the increase of clarity of speech and enunciation, word order and message meaning and comprehension which benefits self-confidence, school and social readiness and Increased independence and overall quality of life. Recommended for All Ages.

Yoga

Helps your child develop healthy habits for a lifetime of wellness and happiness. Yoga gives children a practice and routine that integrates physical, mental and emotional development. Yoga program will help your child develop more personal awareness and learn specific strategies to maintain focus and manage their emotions and impulses.

St. Louis Park Students will strengthen their muscles through a program called Super Stretch. Yoga encourages movement while enhancing flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. Yoga also improves concentration and a sense of calmness and relaxation. Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend along with the younger participants. You may sign up for one or more sessions of Yoga.  

Mom's Night

Moms, Grandmothers, Aunts and Sisters are invited to play, network and connect with one another in a fun and active program.

Speech & Language Group

Speech & Language Group facilitates newly developed communication skills providing a more natural communication between peers. Participants practice new skills through informal interaction with other members of the group, with the guidance of a program leader.

Age Group: Early Learners (0-4)

2 and Under

The perfect place to meet new friends, learn and grow, while parents have the opportunity to socialize and network with one another. Recommended for ages pre-natal to 2 years old.

St. Louis Park 2 & Under is the perfect program for children two and under to meet new friends, learn and grow, while parents have an opportunity to socialize and network with one another. Siblings are always welcome to attend!

Leaps & Bounds

Leaps & Bounds is a play-based program for children ages 3-5 that focuses on success in preschool and kindergarten. Students will participate in fun and engaging activities that provide opportunities for following routines, small group participation, movement and interaction with their environment. Family members are key participants in this program and will encourage their child to reach his or her Best of All throughout each session.  Recommended for ages 3-5 year olds.

Hudson Leaps and Bounds will help promote social, emotional and gross motor development through a variety of activities including interactive play, sharing, cooperative games and physical activity.

LMNOP

Language Music N' Our Peeps (LMNOP) is an interactive and engaging program designed to guide parents and young children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication while using music and language-based activities. Recommended for ages pre-natal to 36 months.

Hudson Language, Music N’ Our Peeps (LMNOP) guides parents and children through learning basic sign language and how to incorporate music and movement into daily activities. Recommended for children 0-36 months old. Siblings are always welcome to attend!

Social Skills for Young Learners

Focuses on targeting functional pragmatic skills. Social learning will be provided through play with a focus on a variety of targets including: social communication, emotions, eye contact and big and small problem solving skills.  The group will promote peer to peer interaction in a fun, friendly and welcoming environment. Recommended for ages 2-5.

St. Louis Park Class is led by Rheanne Lewis, a licensed Speech Language Pathologist. Social learning is provided through play with a focus on a variety of skills: social communication, emotions, eye contact, and big and small problem-solving skills. (Winter Ages 10-12)

Story Telling

Focuses on an interactive story time which includes activities, group & independent literacy exploration and thematic play. Recommended for ages 0-5.

GiGiFIT Kids

GiGiFIT Kids combines key movements from GiGiFIT Teen and advanced progressions of activities from GiGiFIT Toddler to help improve strength, balance, coordination, peer interaction and to build a lifelong love of physical activity. GiGiFIT Kids is not just purposeful play it is our special work out-time to make you stronger , faster, more coordinated and kids say "I love this fun, structured, purposeful movements". Recommended for 5-12 year olds.

Kids Club

Supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program will also support gross motor skills through active games, fine motor and self-help skills through meal/snack preparation and activities. Recommended for 8-12 year-olds.

GiGi’s Kitchen is designed to emphasize the importance of health and wellness through nutrition education, kitchen safety, food preparation, social activities and a shared meal/snack. Under the guidance of program leaders, participants will learn about and progress through skills including measurements, food handling, knife skills, ingredient identification, palette expansion, and nutrition. Participants will be introduced to various cooking techniques. GiGi’s Kitchen program will build participants self-esteem and self-confidence through nutrition and wellness!  This program is recommended for ages 5-12.

GiGiFIT Teen

Introduces the key movements of foundational , hip strengthening and vestibular/balance exercises, we focus on improving areas of fitness through activities in strength, endurance, joint stability, balance, movement control and more. GiGiFIT Teen incorporates age appropriate activities that teens can be successful with and  strengthen their bodies purposefully.​ GiGiFIT promotes wellness through nutrition, pushing through barriers and building self-confidence. Recommended for 13-17 year olds.

Focuses on building social skills with friends with and without Down syndrome by participating in team-based activities in a casual and fun setting. Skill development includes understanding compromise, turn-taking and problem-solving abilities.

Fantastic Friends

A fun purposeful & social gathering for adults with Down syndrome, their peers and the community. Supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. Recommended for Adults 18+.

South Metro Fantastic Friends is a fun night out to facilitate social interactions between adults with Down syndrome, their peers and the community. Friends and siblings 18+ are welcome to join! No registration required, but RSVP via our calendar is encouraged so that instructors can plan for the number of attendees.

EPIC

Provides opportunities for socialization and community involvement, while creating a fun and memorable experience for its participants. Participants work on vocational, communication, and social skills to boost confidence and encourage independence through goal oriented objectives. Recommended for ages 18+.

St. Louis Park This class will be led by Rheanne Lewis, Speech Language Pathologist, and Andrew Doherty, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Each week participants will learn about nutrition, as well as life skills, and cook a healthy meal to eat together. Participants should plan to eat dinner during the program each week.  Program Goals: 
  • Communication: Target skills will include conversation starters, perspective taking, teamwork and problem solving. 
  • Nutrition: Learn about the importance of eating healthy food, portion size, and meal planning. 
  • Healthy Eating: Prepare easy and healthy meals and snacks. Learn about healthy eating habits and good kitchen hygiene.                                        
  • Creating Goals: Learn the importance of creating goals for yourself through creating SMART goals and tracking progress. These goals will be set from the first session for communication, health or fitness and track their progress.

GiGiFIT Toddler

GiGiFIT Toddler includes foundational, vestibular and targeted mobility movements, reflex integration and control. We have taken these movements and concepts to the next level in a fast-paced, super fun and socially interactive atmosphere for young children who have recently mastered the ability to walk on their own. Recommended for walking to 4 year olds.

GiGiFIT You & I

During GiGiFIT You & I the #1 goal is to foster relationships and develop a positive community among caregivers. The fact that we are adding movement is a bonuswith a focus on sneaky physical therapy to improve joint stability, strength, endurance, balance and coordination. We have introduced the concepts of GiGiFIT Adult and GiGiFIT Infant to caregivers of infants with Down syndrome. Recommended for Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Caregivers and their newborn.

GiGi Prep

The GiGi Prep program has an emphasis on building communication skills, money management, customer service skills, team building, health and wellness over a 10-week session made up of 2-days per week instructional learning. This program is an application based program with high expectations to motivate adults with Down syndrome. Recommended for Adults 18+.

Crawlers and Walkers

Focuses on the development of gross and fine motor skills through activities that are hands-on and fun! Social skills and language development will also be addressed, with focus on learning new words, following directions and interacting with peers. Recommended for ages 1-4.

GiGi U

A comprehensive and progressive learning program tailored specifically for adults with Down syndrome comprised of a 15-week session made up of 3-days per week instructional program. GiGi U is designed for motivated adults with Down syndrome to achieve their highest potential in the real world while developing their abilities in the areas of wellness, communication and career skills with emphasis on job interviewing, communication skills, money management, public speaking, customer service, computer skills, team building and health.   Recommended for Adults 18+.

GiGiFIT Infant

In GiGiFIT Infant we are making movement fun! We introduce the concepts of foundational movements, mobility, visual-vestibular, and reflex integration activities. In a fun environment we are purposefully progressing on improving areas of fitness through activities in strength, endurance, joint stability, balance, movement control and more.  Recommended for infant to pre-walking.
 

Playhouse Pals

Studio Cafe

Whether it’s a retail environment, a design studio, a production space or an office, GiGi’s career internship programs build on the skills learned in GiGi U with practical applications and the achievement of certifications. During each individual with Down syndromes 13-week internship they will purposefully progress through certifications learning and demonstrating strengths and interests in transferable job skills, building their resume for placement in a job or volunteer position in the community. Pre-req: GiGi U. Recommended for Adults 18+.

GiGi Professional
