The Houseman’s – Volunteer Spotlight

Meet the Houseman Family!

In our September Volunteer Spotlight, we are thrilled to recognize the Houseman Family: Arron (“Big Guy”), Nancy, Taylor, and Danny, who have been an integral part of  GiGi’s Playhouse Twin Cities community since 2013. From DJing our dances, MCing our Gala, driving our van, leading our Drama Troupe program, and creating social media videos, the Houseman family has supported the Playhouse in countless ways.

Now entering the 11th year of the Drama Troupe Program, the Houseman family has directed and led numerous spectacular shows, including Mamma Mia!, Shrek, High School Musical, Grease, and many more. They dedicate countless hours between planning and rehearsals to craft the best experience for our participants.

You can view their shows here.

If you’ve seen our trendy social media videos since January, most have featured Taylor and Nancy Houseman’s work—two of the three “amigos,” as the social media team calls themself. They continually develop creative ideas, identify new trends, and work closely with our participants to capture fun and engaging footage. Our participants love seeing them in action and are always excited to see what they’ll create next. Nancy is also one of the leaders for GiGi Prep, a new program starting this Fall.

When Danny returns to the Playhouse, he is always a fan favorite. Last December, you may have seen him helping DJ the Holiday Party, where he kept an eye on the dance floor to ensure no one was left out. He made sure everyone had a great time and was ready to party. Even though he isn’t in the Twin Cities full-time, he still finds ways to contribute including assisting with adapting scripts for Drama Troupe.

Arron, also known as “Big Guy,” is the most famous face at the Playhouse. You’ll find him MCing both fundraisers and dances throughout the year. He and Nancy also run Fantastic Friends: On The Go, where they take a van full of participants outside the four walls and into the community to embark on new experiences. Both programs are beloved and fill up quickly.

There are not enough words to express our gratitude to the Houseman family. They have left a lasting impact on our community and participants. They know how to turn programs into lifelong memories, ensuring that everyone has a chance to shine. Thank you for everything you do for our community!
