Our February Volunteer of the Month is…..

Meet our February Volunteer of the Month, Katie!

Katie has been a volunteer here at GiGi’s Playhouse Twin Cities since November 2017. Katie has volunteered with a number of our programs since then! She’s volunteered with our Social Skills for Young Learners Program, LMNOP and Yoga! Katie says that her favorite things about GiGi’s Playhouse are going to Fantastic Friends, EPIC, volunteering with the Yoga class and spending time with our Speech Language Pathologist, Rae Lewis! Oh, and also our volunteers Nancy and “Big Guy”!

Recently, Katie filled in for our LMNOP Program Lead! She planned a lesson for families, created a song to go with the ASL signs she taught, and led the class of five individual and their families! Katie’s lesson was about the signs for different emotions and feelings. She taught us the signs and led us through a special rendition of “if you’re happy and you know it” to get our minds and bodies moving and thinking about the signs!

Katie also left time at the end of the class for families to ask questions about signs they were interested in learning. She did a fantastic job filling in as Program Lead for this class and left all of our families impressed with her wealth of knowledge of American Sign Language.

Katie wants our participants and families here at GiGi’s Playhouse to know that it’s fun to help out!

Thank you, Katie, for all you do for our families and participants! We couldn’t provide amazing programming like LMNOP, Yoga and Social Skills without dedicated volunteers like you!
