Virtual Literacy Tutoring a Huge Success!

GiGi’s Playhouse Tampa Virtual Literacy Sessions Were a HIT!

By Anjali Shah

In the midst of an unprecedented summer facing the COVID-19 pandemic, Gigi’s Playhouse Tampa, FL worked diligently and proudly to create something beautiful. Despite the challenges many of us have faced in the past year, our staff at Gigi’s Tampa had one common goal in mind – to provide the best educational and interactive experience for our students. A special thanks goes to our determined and hard-working Literacy Coordinator, Evelyn Mazur, for all of her hard work in transitioning our free in-person literacy tutoring program into a virtual format. Thank you to all of our Literacy Tutors, as well, for their dedication and compassion when teaching virtually that made these sessions a hit!

Our amazing students and Literacy Tutors are shown in action below:

“Meeting Bradlee and being his literacy tutor this session has been an amazing experience! My favorite part is seeing him improve each week, sharing laughs together, and having lots of dance parties!” – Mia E. Ecklund, Tutor Volunteer

“Maisy was the sweetest little girl and always came to our sessions super excited to learn!” – Rosa Ancaya, Tutor Volunteer

Further quotes gathered from students and their tutors included:

Student – Jenna, Tutor Volunteer – Susan Brennan

“Let’s do this!” – Jenna
