Volunteer Organization Spotlight: Boys Team Charity – Del Norte Chapter
At GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego, we are grateful for community partners who lead through service, generosity, and heart. This month, we are proud to recognize Boys Team Charity – Del Norte Chapter for their continued support and commitment to making a difference.
Boys Team Charity (BTC) was founded in 2001 by families who wanted to teach their sons the importance of giving back and creating positive change in their local communities. Since then, BTC has grown nationwide, helping develop young men into future leaders through hands-on service and philanthropy.
The organization’s mission is to develop an altruistic spirit in young men through active participation of parents and teens in volunteer projects within their communities. Through this unique parent-son model, each pair works side by side as a team, strengthening both their communities and their family bonds.
The Del Norte Chapter has generously supported GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego through volunteering at many of our favorite events, including the Valentine’s Friendship Celebration, Fall Fun Fest, End of Summer Picnic, and GiGi’s 5K Donut Run.
When asked how they first connected with GiGi’s Playhouse, they shared:
“We commonly connect with organizations based on the needs and interests of our members and their families, which is how we were introduced to GiGi’s Playhouse.”
Their volunteers are inspired by the mission and impact of GiGi’s Playhouse, especially the promise to educate, inspire, and believe. They also recognize how meaningful it is to have dedicated spaces and resources that empower individuals with Down syndrome and their families to thrive.
For Boys Team Charity, volunteering is at the heart of everything they do.
“We believe it is essential to teach the next generation the importance of giving back and serving others. Through this model, parents and sons work side by side to strengthen their communities while also deepening their family relationships.”
Their members gain far more than volunteer hours—they gain perspective, compassion, leadership experience, and a deeper respect for people of all abilities.
Feedback from their volunteers has been overwhelmingly positive, with many describing their experiences at GiGi’s Playhouse as joyful, rewarding, and inspiring. Events like the Donut Run stand out as especially meaningful opportunities to celebrate inclusion and cheer on every participant.
“If you want to have fun and experience genuine joy, volunteer with GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego. The Donut Run is especially heartwarming… The excitement and sense of accomplishment are contagious.”
We are incredibly thankful for the time, energy, and enthusiasm that Boys Team Charity – Del Norte Chapter brings to our Playhouse community. Your partnership helps create memorable experiences, strengthen inclusion, and inspire the next generation of leaders.
