Eli’s Push to Success

Eli in literacy tutoring – one word at a time

Success comes in all forms and capacities but sometimes those little successes or what we call “Best of Alls” sometimes go unnoticed. Here at GiGi’s Playhouse we celebrate All Best of All’s whether it be reading an entire book or maybe reading that one more word. We celebrate it all!

We often see these amazing moments during our Literacy and Math Tutoring sessions. This is where Eli who has been tutored by Francesca had a boost of confidence and pushed himself to complete a full page of reading.

“- Area where I have noticed Eli improving: he has become so much more confident in reading a full page within a book. At first he would immediately state “I am done” or “I don’t want to” but now he takes his time, by focusing on only one word at a time, and with a little encouragement from me, he will finish the page. With more time, he will continue to build his confidence and continue to read more pages with more words! – Francesca”

That connectedness can also be just as key to confidence as we have read above. Francesca took her time getting to know Eli and how he learns. She met him where he was at and slowly but surely boosted that confidence to a place where he feels comfortable and eager to push on.

Way to go Eli and Francesca!!
