My First Gala Was… “Absolutely Amazing”

The 2018 “I have a Voice” Gala is just a few short weeks away. Last year, there were several new attendees and we wanted to get some feedback from them to see what they thought of the event. Kaitlyn was the first to share her thoughts with us.

How did you hear about GiGi’s Playhouse?

Through a class at St. Ambrose! I was given the opportunity to volunteer or do life experience; you can guess which I chose.

How long have you been participating in programming here at GiGi’s?

Almost 3 years, boy does time fly when you’re having fun!

If you were to pick one thing to say about GiGi’s, what would be the #BestofAll you would like to share?

GiGi’s is the best place to be on your good days, your bad days, and your worst days. No matter your mood there is always someone there to cheer you up and make you smile whether it be the awesome Staff or the amazing families and participants that are there. I will never forget walking into GiGi’s my very first day volunteering and being so nervous that nobody was going to like me. Within a minute of walking in, Rachel (from Fantastic Friends) welcomed me with a hug and I knew I that GiGi’s would begin to hold a place in my heart forever.

Why is Gala important to you?

Gala is important to me because it is a time during the year that we are able to raise money to continue to support our participants for free. There are so many wonderful things that we want to do at the Playhouse, but they all require funds and a lot of those funds we receive from the Gala! Additionally, it is a great time and experience that I get to share with my friends and family. My first Gala last year was absolutely amazing and I could not be more excited to see how great it will be this year with the new location! Eeek!

Tell us about your family/friends/coworkers that will attend with you?

Last year it was only Ben (my boyfriend) and myself who attended together. We had a blast and he shared a dance with his favorite twins, who I think taught him a move or two! This year we are getting an entire table filled with friends of ours to help show the passion of GiGi’s Playhouse and hope they can see just why we love it so much. This is why I would always encourage someone to attend, there is so much inspiration that is poured into one room! Once you attend and meet the amazing families who are involved, trust me, you will want to return for the following years to come.

Anything additional that you would like to add?

I can’t wait to bust a move with all of my Fantastic Friends and I’m secretly hoping we have some Karaoke because those guys can rock it, especially if it is High School Musical! 🙂

The funny thing about all of Kaitlyn’s answers is that she forgot to mention something…..

Last year, she was recognized as the Young Leader of the Year!!!!
