Welcome Back, Maddie

Spring 2025 Intern welcome or should we say welcome back?!

As Maddie, explains below she’s been here before, and many of you may have worked with or seen her around. If you attended the 2024 SAU Trivia Night which was a community fundraiser for GiGi’s, you had the pleasure of seeing her emcee the event. (FYI Trivia is happening again this year. See more below!) She’s even attended the gala for a few years and invited her family to join her!

You can see Maddie’s previous welcome blog linked here.

We asked her to write up another personal introduction which you will see below.

My name is Maddie Blackbourn and I am the OT (Occupational Therpay) student intern for the spring! I may seem familiar because I previously interned at GiGi’s in 2022 for my bachelor’s degree. I also continued to volunteer at GiGi’s and lead programs such as kids dance as I was able to. I am currently attending St. Ambrose’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program and I plan on graduating this upcoming May. I will be at GiGi’s Playhouse for a total of 15 weeks as part of my capstone experience.

While here, I will also be working on my doctoral capstone project where I am developing a protocol for practice for individuals with Down syndrome across the lifespan to promote occupational performance. I will be assisting with a variety of different programs this spring, so I am looking forward to working with everyone!
