Current Volunteer Opportunities

Updated 5/12/26

GiGi’s Playhouse Quad Cities is powered by something truly special —YOU.
Every smile, breakthrough, high five, and “best of all” moment inside our Playhouse happens because volunteers choose to share their time, talent, and heart with our community. We’re always looking for more amazing individuals and families to join us in creating a space where confidence grows, friendships form, and acceptance shines.

If you’ve ever wondered how to get involved, now is the perfect time! Below is a list of current volunteer opportunities.

Outreach Events

One of our focus areas for the year is to build stronger relationships within the community while encouraging growth with current and prospective families. This is particularly done by attending community events and overseeing parent programs. If you are interested in sharing the GiGi’s mission with the community or reinforcing the bond between the playhouse and parents, check out the current outreach events needing your support!

Host Families

One of the most meaningful ways to be involved — especially for GiGi’s families — is to serve as a Host Family.

Host Families:

  • Greet participants as they arrive
  • Help create a welcoming, friendly, and inclusive atmosphere
  • Ensure no family feels alone
  • Model acceptance and connection for children and adults alike

This is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for parents who want to involve their own kids in giving back and learning the power of inclusion. Even one hour can make a world of difference. Contact our Program & Volunteer Coordinator to learn more.

Program Leaders, Assistants, and Greeters

Program Leads are the heart of our programs. They guide participants through purposeful activities, model engagement, and create an encouraging environment. If you have experience in education, therapy, recreation, fitness, cooking, music, or simply love working with people, this is a meaningful way to make an impact.

Program Assistants help ensure programs run smoothly by supporting the Lead, helping with activities, and providing encouragement to participants. This role is great for teens, college students, or anyone wanting to make a difference with a smaller time commitment.

Program Greeters also help ensure the program runs smoothly by greeting families as they arrive, helping them sign in, and providing any instructions needed as they enter. This role can often be combined with the program assistant role and/or the host family role.

Contact our Program & Volunteer Coordinator to discuss these opportunities.

Committee Members

Committees currently in need of additional members:

  • Family & Outreach Committee
  • Events Planning Committees (Gala, Race, Art Show)
  • Marketing Committee
  • Program Committee
  • Development Committee
  • Finance Committee

If you are interested in serving on a committee, please contact a staff or board member to connect or learn more.

Board Members

Board Members play a vital role in the success and sustainability of our organization. To advance our mission, we rely on strong, dedicated leaders who provide guidance and oversight across key areas, including strategic direction, staff support, fundraising, development, financial stewardship, advocacy, and community engagement. Their leadership helps ensure the continued growth and impact of the playhouse both within our programs and throughout the broader community. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a board member, please contact the Playhouse for information and an application at (309) 762-7529 or [email protected]

Current Roles/Experience Areas Needed

  • Secretary
  • Business Owner
  • Development/Fundraising
  • Management (HR)
  • Accounting/Finance/Sales
  • Nonprofit Experience
  • Event Planning

Volunteer Liaison

The Volunteer Liaison plays a key role in welcoming individuals interested in volunteering at GiGi’s Playhouse. This team member connects with prospective volunteers via email, guiding them through the onboarding process and helping ensure a positive, seamless experience.

Working collaboratively with staff, the Volunteer Liaison helps provide a high level of support and customer service to both new and returning volunteers. This role requires a commitment of approximately 1–2 hours per week and can be completed remotely.

If you’re interested in supporting the volunteer onboarding experience at GiGi’s, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator by email or phone to learn more!

Tutors Needed – Fall 2026

Are you interested in changing the life of a person with Down syndrome? Tutoring just one hour per week in our Literacy and Math program will do just that. Tutors work one-on-one with participants (ages 3 and up) to build skills in reading, comprehension, math fluency, and problem-solving. Curriculum and training are provided — you just bring patience, encouragement, and a love of learning. Tutoring is one of our highest-impact volunteer roles.

Learn more about these programs and submit your tutor application by using the links below.
