3 steps to get started!

Ever thought about becoming a volunteer here at GiGi’s? The beginning of a new year is a great time to get started!

GiGi’s is 99% volunteer-run and we need your help to make all the free purposeful programs possible. YOU can make a difference in the life of an individual with Down syndrome. Together we can change the way the world views Down syndrome.

There are 3 steps to get started. You can do them in any order depending on comfort level and/or availability.

3 steps to get started as a volunteer!

1. Visit the volunteer page on our website for an overview about volunteer roles. (This is the short list!)

Look for the “Become A Volunteer” button at the bottom of that page (or linked below) to complete the volunteer interest form. This interest form will provide us with some basic information (age, interests, general availability) to get started.

2. Attend a virtual volunteer orientation with staff from our national office.
There are several offered each month. Various days and times are available to fit different schedules.

Register for an orientation by finding one on our website calendar.

3. Attend a new volunteer meet and greet.
In 2024, we will begin offering meet and greets 1-2 times a month here at the Playhouse. You will meet with a staff member, get a tour of our Playhouse, receive a volunteer handbook, and you are encouraged to ask questions. Attendees are invited to stay to observe the program(s) that are scheduled for the day/night.

If you’d like to learn more about GiGi’s and volunteering before completing the other steps, you’re welcome to attend a meet and greet first. We can even help you with the other steps while you’re here!

Register for the next meet and greet on our website calendar.

Please note: New volunteers are welcome to register as a guest for the orientation and/or meet and greet. We will provide information about setting up your “My GiGi’s Account” once you’ve completed the first 3 steps. It will be needed for additional training depending on which volunteer role to choose.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send us an email at volunteerquadcities@gigisplayhouse.org or call 309-762-7529. We are here to help your volunteer experience be the best it can be.
