“mini reunion”

The first Saturday in October is now permanently reserved for our family.  The GiGi’s Superhero 5K/Walk/Dash has become like a mini reunion.

Each year it is an amazing gathering of friends and family, but most importantly, we get to celebrate our little superhero, Gavin.  As a parent, it is deeply moving to see the large group of people who are there to show the love and support that they have for your child.  Though, the really amazing part is to look around and see that our experience is not unique.  We are part of a diverse community consisting of differing ages, genders, and backgrounds, but we all rally together under a common cause – our love for those individuals with the amazing 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome.  The Superhero 5K takes a morning and encapsulates what GiGi’s is all about.

Be Accepting – Not only are individuals with Down syndrome accepted, they are celebrated.

Be Generous – Generous perfectly describes all of the incredible donors, sponsors, participants – and of course everyone that buys raffle tickets.

Be Kind – The volunteers that go out of their way to make the morning a great experience for everyone.

This event gives is a time to celebrate that the individuals we love are incredible, and it is a perfect opportunity to showcase their achievements.
