Don’t answer the question! What?

Don’t answer the question!

What? In speech sessions I frequently have participants repeat after me so I can model correct pronunciation and/or sentence structure. When doing this teaching technique with question skills and a literal/concrete person, like our friends with Down syndrome, you may not get the question repeated, but answered.

I have been working on this with this and one participant for a while now, in practicing fluent speech in conversation. Conversation skills include asking questions to get to know people.

And for the first time, they understood to repeat the question using fluency shaping techniques and didn’t just answer the question!!!!

I could not have been more excited and/or proud. YAY, RILEY!
