Participant Best of All

Lauren ended her summer speech sessions with a bang! Miss Ann tried a new therapy technique and it was phenomenal. She was able to decode what Lauren was saying into words that more people would understand. The #bestofall moment was when Lauren’s eyes lit up because she realized Miss Ann understood what she was saying.

Volunteer Spotlight

We host 2 concession stands for 5 days during the John Deere Classic. Each day there are anywhere from 2-7 volunteers needed in each stand. This means we need lots of volunteer manpower.

Similar to past years, Blackhawk Bank & Trust allowed and encouraged their staff to volunteer which we always appreciate. They also sponsored the koozies we hand out throughout the week. Thank you to them and their continued support.

New this year was a team of staff from various Scooter’s Coffee locations. We have been working behind the scenes with them to develop a working partnership and this was one of the stepping stones. It was great to meet them and hope to work with them more in the future.

Of course, we can’t forget to thank the parents, participants, and other friends who stepped in to fill spots too. Thank you to everyone for making the long, hot, week fun and enjoyable! Plus we raised over $8000 for our Playhouse!

Enjoy this reel featuring most of the volunteers. (Sorry we didn’t get photos of everyone!)

Playhouse Inspiration

This month’s inspiration snuck in during the last weekend of the month!

We were surprised, honored, and blessed to learn that the male Beat the Elite runner (Colin Cartee) participating during the Bix 7 was donating his winnings to our Playhouse. If you’ve been around awhile you may have met or heard about Colin from CrossFit OC3. He previously led a Friends, Fun, and Fitness program for us. He was also awarded the Generation G award at our annual gala for his generosity, kindness, and acceptance. Colin is truly a class act and we appreciate his continued support and friendship.

Meet the Beat the Elite Runners in the interview linked here.

Check out the interview with KWQC and our Site Director featuring a few of our friends linked here.

YOU can submit your Best of All stories and moments too!

Staff typically choose these stories, but we’d love to hear from you too! If you see or hear something worth highlighting, please let us know!
