Participant Spotlight: Sable

Meet Sable! Sable has been a dedicated member of the GiGi’s NYC community for several years, regularly attending Gratitude Art Committee, Summer Horizons, Community Chorus and Bowling Buddies. Sable is creative, loving, and always fashionable!

1. When did you join the GiGi’s NYC community? Around 7 years ago. 
2. How old are you? 32 years old. 
3. How did you find out about GiGi’s NYC? She was introduced to GiGi’s NYC by her Comp Worker at the time named Georgette. 
4. Which programs have meant the most to you and why? All the programs have given me great experiences. They have opened up all my abilities to communicate and express myself. 
5. What does GiGi’s NYC mean to you? GiGi’s NYC means everything to me. I have made friends who are more like family. I gained confidence and I’m able to be myself. 
6. What have you gained from our programs? I gained the ability to improve my communication skills when I’m interacting with others. 
7. How do you enjoy spending your free time? During my free time I love coloring, painting my nails, dressing up, taking pictures, dancing and singing while listening to music. 
8. What achievements are you most proud of? What achievements can you connect to skills you have learned at GiGi’s NYC? I’m proud of my communication skills. At GiGi’s NYC I have developed to be more verbal in expressing what I want. 
9. What do you want the GiGi’s NYC community to know? I want the GiGi’s NYC Community to know I’m no different than anyone else. I can achieve and accomplish anything I put my mind to. 
10. What would you like to see from GiGi’s NYC in the future? Do you have any ideas for new programs or special events? I would love to see GiGi’s NYC maybe have an Adult Day Program where we will be able to still learn and engage in more hands-on activities while spending time with friends. 

It has been an absolute pleasure witnessing Sable blossom into the wonderful young woman she is today. GiGi’s NYC is honored to have her as part of our community!
