It’s Time to Get Ready for the Spring Season!-Written by Fatima, GiGi’s NYC Participant

There are some wonderful holidays to celebrate in April 2024, such as April Fool’s Day, International Macaroni Day, International Hanging Out Day, Earth Day, National World Art Day, National Pigs in a Blanket Day, National Great Poetry Reading Day, and so many more.

April Fool’s Day was celebrated on Monday, April 1st, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion in different ways. For example, people like to play funny pranks and tricks, make jokes, get together with all of their loved ones and friends, and make people laugh and laugh.

International Macaroni Day is celebrated on Monday, April 15th, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion by having macaroni for dinner while they are doing their taxes on this day. On this day I’m planning on having macaroni and meatballs. I also plan on making extra macaroni for loved ones and helping my mother out with her taxes since she has a lot of taxes to pay.

International Hanging Out Day is on Friday, April 19th, and a lot of people go out with their loved ones and families to get together. On this day I also plan on seeing my boyfriend, Peter, and his family at their new house. I also plan on visiting my grandparents, Pop Pop and Maureen.

Earth Day is celebrated on Monday, April 22nd, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion in different ways like reusing water bottles, using fewer garbage bags for their trash, and reusing shampoo bottles while showering, and recycling bags for recycling products. People also pick up trash from the ground while going out in the environment. On this day, I am planning on cleaning and organizing my neighborhood, throwing out trash that I find, and helping others clean up their communities right near where I live.

National World Art Day is also celebrated on Monday, April 22nd, and a lot of people celebrate this day in different ways including participating in activities such as debates, conferences, workshops, cultural events, and presentations. People also like to go to museums. On this day, I am planning on painting collages and pictures of nature and the spring season in my free time.

National Pigs in a Blanket Day is celebrated on Wednesday, April 24th, and a lot of people celebrate it in different ways. For example, people like to go to events at the zoo, schools, nursing homes, and sporting events around the country. A quick fact about pigs in a blanket is that they got their name because they are made from pork sausages and wrapped in a blanket of dough. I enjoy eating pigs in a blanket and want to learn how to make them independently.

National Great Poetry Reading Day is celebrated on Sunday, April 28th, and a lot of people celebrate the occasion by reading poetry and poems, writing poems, and becoming a poet. I enjoy reading poems and creating poetry.

Before I start the May blog post, I want to recommend Trattoria L’Incontro. It is an Italian Restaurant in Queens. The address is 21-76 31st Street, Astoria, NY 11105. They have a lot of different types of delicious food that I enjoy eating. I have had and recommend the margherita pizza, sfiziosa pizza, calamari fritti, rigatoni al ragu di vitello, pappardelle al nero di seppia, eggplant parmigiana over pasta, chicken parmigiana over pasta, and vitello parmigiana over pasta. My favorite desserts to get are the cheesecake, tiramisu, tartufo, cannolis, Napoleon pastries, chocolate pizza, and apple cake with two scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Have a Happy Spring!

Love always,

Fatima

P.S. Please come to my performances at DreamStreet Theatre on May 1st and 2nd in Brooklyn. I will be performing in Snow White with a couple of other friends from GiGi’s NYC. I’m looking forward to it so much!
