Music Makers: Empowering Participants with Down Syndrome Through the Power of Music

GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans is proud to present Music Makers, our popular summer music therapy program designed specifically for children, teens, and young adults with Down syndrome. Now in its fourth year, this 10-week series, led by licensed music therapist, Jeremy Love, from Love’s Music Therapy LLC, provides a fun and inclusive environment where participants can develop vital social, communication, and motor skills through singing, instrument play, improvisation, and music technology.

Held twice weekly, Music Makers welcomes not only individuals with Down syndrome but also their neurotypical siblings and others with disabilities. This unique approach fosters family engagement and peer connection while promoting confidence, self-expression, and acceptance. Participants are encouraged to bring their own instruments to personalize their experience, and sessions emphasize important skills like turn-taking, observation, and creative expression.

The program is made possible by the generous support of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, reflecting GiGi’s mission to provide free, high-quality educational and therapeutic programs that change lives and promote acceptance.

This year’s program will conclude on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, with our Summer Snowball Celebration! Join us to celebrate another wonderful year of Music Makers and enjoy your favorite flavor of snowball as we honor the progress and joy of all our participants.
Through Music Makers, GiGi’s Playhouse continues to create a welcoming space where music enriches lives and builds a stronger, more inclusive community. To learn more about GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans visit www.gigisplayhouse.org/neworleans/.
