Meet our new volunteer Rachel

My name is Rachel Sloan and I am a senior at Tulane University. I am excited to be a part of GiGi’s Playhouse and helping individuals with Down syndrome. I am passionate about the goals at GiGi’s Playhouse to help the world have a better understanding of Down syndrome and spread acceptance.

I think it is really important to have an organization such as GiGi’s Playhouse in the New Orleans community. Their programs are run by people who have a genuine desire to help make a difference in the lives of individuals with Down syndrome, as well as their families. Additionally, the services provided are easily accessible to all those who need them which emphasizes the dedication that GiGi’s Playhouse has to help make a difference.

Since I was in elementary school, I have been passionate about helping those with special needs and helping to end the stigma against them. Being a part of GiGi’s Playhouse will help me do just that! I’m excited to learn from everyone over the next few months and use what I learn in my work with people with Down syndrome or developmental disorders going forward.
