Crescent City Classic 10K – GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans Down Syndrome Achievement Center

GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans Down Syndrome Achievement Center was selected for the 2024 Crescent City Classic (CCC) “Run for It” charity partner program. The CCC is New Orleans and the Gulf South’s premier 10K road race, and one of the oldest 10K races in the nation. Each year over 20,000 people gather in downtown New Orleans for the 6.2-mile event that attracts everyone from international elite athletes to those who walk the entire route.

The course starts in front of the Superdome, heads down Poydras, takes a left on Convention Center Blvd. and left onto Canal. The course continues onto N Peters where it passes Jackson Square & St. Louis Cathedral. Participants run through the French Quarter, past Café Du Monde and the French Market, before taking a left on Esplanade. The LCMC CCC10K course continues down beautiful Esplanade Ave. to the front of New Orleans City Park. The remainder of the course takes place inside City Park – passing by Storyland before finishing in front of the New Orleans Museum of Art.

Along the LCMC CCC10K course, participants will experience bands at mile markers along with many groups serving free libations for those who want to partake! Water stations and port-o-lets will be placed at mile markers 1-5. All water stations will be available on both sides of the street.

As a partner, GiGi’s NOLA is forming a team of runners, joggers, walkers, and virtual supporters who commit to raising a minimum of $200 for the Playhouse. Team members will receive unique perks (see below). Participants who raise $300 for GiGi’s will receive a full refund of the registration fee! The registration fee is $45 if you sign up by March 27th

Volunteering

As a Run for It Charity partner, GiGi’s Playhouse has been asked to have 20 volunteers on our behalf at the starting line.  Starting line volunteers receive a race number bib which allows them to do the racecourse and enter the post-race festival in City Park for free. (Volunteers will not receive a chip to record race time.)  If you would like to volunteer for the starting line, please sign up here at this link, and be sure to select “GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center” from the drop-down menu for Nonprofit Organization You Represent. 2024 CCC Run For It Volunteer Registration (google.com)

We also need a few volunteers to help set up our food and fun activities in our tent at the post-race festival.  If you are interested in volunteering at the post-race festival, please email volunteerneworleans@gigisplayhouse.org

This is a wonderful opportunity for GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans to reach over 20,000 people participating in the race to spread Down syndrome awareness, acceptance, and inclusion in our community. Join our team today!
