Meet Our New Volunteer Ethan!

My name is Ethan Huene, and I am a sophomore at Tulane University. I am so excited to work as a Project Coordinator Intern for GiGi’s Playhouse New Orleans throughout the spring semester! I was drawn to GiGi’s Playhouse because of all of the remarkable work they have accomplished since their start in 2003. GiGi’s Playhouse works to not only educate and promote acceptance, but to also empower one another and embrace the differences that make all of us unique.

It is inspiring to read the story of GiGi and see how a single Down syndrome awareness center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois has grown to over 50 locations nationwide with over 220,000 program participation hours. All of GiGi’s educational and therapeutic-based programs are provided at no cost whatsoever and have brought so much positivity and joy to thousands of individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

I am beyond excited and honored to work with such an amazing organization. We live in a world where individuals with Down syndrome are challenged with discrimination and prejudice, rather than acknowledged for their talent, energy, motivation, and drive. Working with GiGi’s to help break this stigma and create a world where diversity is appreciated is such an incredible and worthwhile opportunity. I cannot wait to see all of the good that GiGi’s Playhouse brings to the New Orleans region!
