💡 Fact: Nonsense! When you become a tutor, you get to pick the days and times that work best for you. We’ll match you with a student who shares your availability. Life can be unpredictable, and we get that. So, we’re all about flexibility – you and your student will have 8-12 lessons during the session, guaranteed. With a set schedule, planning your week becomes a breeze!

💥 Myth: “I’m no expert, so I’m not cut out for this.”

💡 Fact: Hold up! You don’t need to be a seasoned pro at tutoring. In fact, a whopping 95% of our tutors had never tutored before joining us! All you need is the desire to help your community, and we’ll provide you with the tools and support to rock this gig. Whether you’re a high school senior, college student, working professional, or even a retiree looking for some fun, you’ll have a blast making a positive impact!

💥 Myth: “I know nothing about people with Down syndrome.”

💡 Fact: Fear not! You’re not alone in this boat. Most of our volunteers had never met someone with Down syndrome before they joined us. We’ve got your back with top-notch training and resources that are easy to understand. You’ll feel well-prepared and ready to make a difference!

•             🌟 Virtual Volunteer Orientation: We’ll kick things off with a 1-hour session via Microsoft Teams to get you started and pumped up!

•             🌟 Self-Led Training Modules: Dive into 4 hours of engaging modules on our GiGi’s training website, focused on math or literacy. Learn at your own pace and have a blast!

•             🌟 Virtual Training with Program Directors: Spend 1.5 hours with our National Office Program directors, making sure you’re fully prepared and ready to rock as a tutor.

•             🌟 Virtual/In-Person Training: Your choice! Enjoy a 1.5-hour session with local staff and coordinators to get familiar with available resources and have all your questions answered.

•             🔍 Background Check: Don’t worry, it’s on us! We’ll conduct a third-party background check to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
